Holiday travel, family vacations, setting decorations, and going to parties: the holidays aren’t the laidback time they first seem to be! As you’re taking the time to enjoy this holiday season, we hope that you maintain your dental hygiene routine to maximize the health of your teeth and gums. Here are some extra tips to keep you on track during this holiday time of year:

Of course, as the old saying goes, don’t forget to pack your toothbrush! Keeping a portable toothbrush, a tiny bit of floss and some toothpaste in your toiletries kit should be a priority year-round. Take three to four minutes at the end of each day to brush and floss your teeth; you’ll be grateful you did when you don’t have to get dental fillings! (If you have guests visiting, try leaving a few tubes of new toothpaste in the bathroom they’ll be using.) If you have an oral exam scheduled during the holidays, make sure to keep it by scheduling your other to-dos around it. You won’t enjoy the holidays to their maximum with hurting teeth. Finally, watch out for sugary foods like juices, candies and some alcohols that can dry out your mouth and build plaque.
